Lies, Damned Lies, And Hillary Clinton - Why 68% Of Americans Believe She Is Dishonest

There are politicians and then there are politicians. When one of them takes a stand on an issue and later takes a diametrically opposite position, they will tell you that they have "evolved".  The translation for "evolved"? Their constituency has changed politically and in order to be re-elected they have to do a flip flop.

I get it. I don't like it but I understand why they do it. They obviously believe that in order to stay in office they gotta do what they gotta do.

That doesn't make it right and it certainly raises serious questions about the politician's character. But I'm not naive enough to expect otherwise.

Where I draw the line is when a politician flip flops on an issue and then looks me straight in the eye and lies about ever having taken a different position. He or she obviously thinks I must have "STUPID" written across my forehead. They have no qualms about insulting my intelligence.

I will not look the other way and neither should you. Let's see where Hillary Clinton fits in to this discussion.

Over the course of Hillary Clinton's political career, she has flipped and flopped on too many issues to count. Here is a compilation of her 22 most recent flips and flops (click on the image to enlarge).

The fact that she has articulated diametrically opposite positions on so many issues should be concerning if only due to the sheer numbers. If she had changed her views on just a few matters one might view it as simply a change of heart with a dash of political expediency. But changing one's tune so many times, on so many issues, should be worrisome to any objective individual.

And apparently, it is. And it is particularly disconcerting when you combine repeated flip flops with outright lies about positions taken in the past.

Funny thing, we Americans. After being lied to a few times by the same person, people will write that person off as a pathological liar.

In two separate polls conducted by liberal bastions like CNN and CBS/New York Times, 68 percent of the voters polled believe that Hillary Clinton is dishonest. 67 percent believe that she is not trustworthy and her unfavorable numbers are at an all time low. Maybe, just maybe, it's because of some of the following.

The TPP (Yeah You Know Me)
For years, Clinton staunchly supported the TPP, or the Trans Pacific Partnership. The TPP is a trade pact among 12 countries, including the US, Japan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, Brunei, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Chile and Peru. It's goal is to create increased economic bonds among the countries by significantly cutting tariffs and increasing trade in order to boost economic growth by all members.

So you have no doubt as to where she stood on the TPP between 2010 and 2013, watch this video montage:

As Secretary of State, Clinton called the TPP, "...the gold standard in trade agreements to open free, transparent, fair trade, the kind of environment that has the rule of law and a level playing field." She also described it as "exciting," "innovative," "ambitious," "groundbreaking," "cutting-edge," "high-quality" and "high-standard."

Fast forward to the 2016 primaries and her battle with Bernie Sanders. Sanders, a staunch opponent of the TPP, chastised Clinton time after time during debates and on the campaign trail on the TPP. After taking a continued beating from Sanders on the issue and needing to curry favor with Liberals, Clinton announced that she was opposed to the TPP.

Pretending that the TPP was something that she had never heard about and was just beginning to learn the details, Clinton looked America in the eye and said that she, "...had said from the very beginning...." that she, "...was trying to learn as much as she could about it...." and that she, "...was not in favor of what [she had] learned about it."

Not even Liberals bought this lie. She's been excoriated for lying about her past support of the trade deal and Liberals are not buying in to her newfound opposition. Many Democrats believe that if she is elected, she will flop back to the pro-TPP position she once espoused.

That is one of the reasons why the Bernie or Bust people were so angry at the Democratic Convention last week. They hate the TPP and know her only too well.

Gay Marriage - A "Strong Record" Of Commitment?
For years, Hillary Clinton unequivocally adhered to the position that marriage was an institution strictly reserved for a man and a woman.  When asked to state her view on the issue once, she responded, "Marriage has got historic, religious and moral content that goes back to the beginning of time, and I think a marriage is as a marriage has always been, between a man and a woman." In a town hall interview with MSNBC's Chris Matthews, she went so far as to state her unwavering opposition to any attempt by the State of New York to allow gays to marry.

Needing to revamp her image with Democratic voters in later years, Hillary flipped on the issue. She also tried to lie to the public about her prior stance on the issue. In a June 12, 2014 NPR interview with Terry Gross, Clinton tried to rewrite history on her historical gay marriage stance by claiming to have always had a "strong record of commitment" to gay marriage. Listen to this:

Comparing the first clip with the second, you'd think it was two different people expressing their view.

Emailing Classified Material - Having Textual Relations With That Server
For almost two years, after the bombshell revelation that Clinton had used an unauthorized private server to send and receive emails while Secretary of State, the FBI concluded an investigation into the matter and ultimately decided not to recommend prosecution of Clinton.
The decision not to recommend prosecution came as no surprise to most Americans given that the Justice Department (under which the FBI is based) is an arm of the Obama administration. And while the Director of the FBI refused to recommend prosecution, he reached the following conclusions:

"Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information."

"There is evidence to support a conclusion that any reasonable person in Secretary Clinton's position, or in the position of those with whom she was corresponding about those matters, should have known that an unclassified system was no place for that conversation."

"None of these emails should have been on any kind of unclassified system, but their presence is especially concerning because all of these emails were housed on unclassified personal servers not even supported by full-time security staff, like those found at agencies and departments of the United States government -- or even with a commercial email service like Gmail."

Not only did the FBI Director impugn Clinton's judgment when it came to handling classified material, he exposed Clinton as having repeatedly lied when she made numerous statements to the public relating to her use of the server.

Even to this day she still tries to get anyone who will listen that she did not send or receive material that was classified, when sent...and with a straight face. Who to believe, who to believe...the FBI Director in the Obama administration who says she definitely, absolutely, positively did, or Hillary who says she didn't....

She Makes Stuff Up For No Reason...
I am not a psychologist nor do I pretend to know why people repeatedly lie. But I do know that when someone lies repeatedly, and especially about inane things, there's something that's not  psychologically right about that person.

That is Hillary in a nutshell. For inexplicable reasons, she has a need to lie and she makes up stories about ridiculously insignificant things. It goes beyond exaggeration or embellishment, it's downright pathological.

I've compiled a list of just a few of Hillary's whoppers to illustrate my point.

Dead broke - According to Hillary, after Bill Clinton's second term in office, the Clinton's left the White House, "... not only dead broke, but in debt.” Puhhhhhllllleeeeaseeee.
Immigrant Grandparents – Clinton has said that all of her grandparents were immigrants. Only one of her grandparents was an immigrant.
Named After Sir Edmund Hillary – Clinton once claimed to have been named after Sir Edmund Hillary, one of the first men to climb Mt. Everest.

Unfortunately, prior to scaling Mt. Everest, Sir Edmund Hillary was an unknown New Zealander. He also didn’t climb Mt. Everest until 1953 when Clinton was 6 years old.

There was no way that Hillary's parents would have known who Sir Edmund Hillary was when choosing her name, leaving no doubt that Hillary made this little bit of trivia up.
From The Halls Of Montezuma – This is a real beaut.... Clinton once claimed that she tried to enlist in the Marines in 1975 but was turned down. Both the Washington Post and the New York Times found this one hard to swallow.

At the time she was supposedly going to join the Marines, Clinton was a law professor and soon to be wed to Bill Clinton. She was an avid anti-war radical in the 1960's and according to none other than Bill Clinton, he and she loathed the military.

After hearing this incredulous tale, Maureen Dowd wrote in a New York Times article, "The First Lady's cascading, contradictory images have been the subject of much commentary. This month's Mirabella magazine runs a dizzying array of different looking Hillary Rodham Clintons, to match her blur of different roles, with a story that frets: 'We sense that we aren't seeing the 'real' Hillary, and this makes us very nervous.'"

Where's Chelsea? - On September 17th 2001, while being interviewed by Jane Pauley on NBC's Dateline, Clinton said that on 9/11, Chelsea had gone on “...what she [Chelsea] thought would be a great jog...” around the [World Trade Center] towers. Clinton added, “...and then the plane hit,” implying that Chelsea was jogging near the World Trade Center at the time of the terrorist attack. In November, 2001, Chelsea wrote an article in Talk magazine about what happened that day, disputing her mother's story. According to Chelsea, she was watching television in a friend's Union Square apartment when the planes hit, nowhere near harm's way.
Sniper Fire In Bosnia – In 2008, Clinton inexplicably and repeatedly claimed that she came under sniper fire in Bosnia when her entourage landed at an airport. She went into great detail, even recalling that her group ran “...with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.” Journalists who were on the aircraft were dumbfounded upon hearing Clinton's account.

Extensive video of her arrival showed a very calm scene and nothing that even remotely corroborated Clinton's account. Far from running to an airport building with their heads down, Clinton and her party were greeted on the tarmac by smiling U.S. and Bosnian officials. An 8-year-old Muslim girl, Emina Bicakcic, read a poem in English.

An Associated Press photograph of the greeting ceremony showed a smiling Clinton bending down to receive a kiss. The group then strolled to various areas without a seeming care in the world. According to entertainer Sinbad, who provided entertainment on the trip along with the singer Sheryl Crow, the “scariest” part of the Bosnia visit was deciding where to eat.

The Washington Post gave Clinton four Pinocchio's for this story. That's the newspaper's rating for a lie that is so egregious it is considered to be a "whopper". Ultimately, Clinton's people admitted that it was "possible" that Clinton misspoke about the incident.

"Possible" indeed.

You can judge for yourself after watching the video below.

Benghazi - It Was A Video (Psssst - It Was A Terrorist Attack)
Last but by far not least there's Benghazi. You've may have heard a lot of misinformation about vast right wing conspiracies, politically motivated congressional investigations, and Hillary's famous outburst, "What difference does it make?"

Watch the following video. It's a clip that is just shy of six minutes. It depicts an exchange between Hillary Clinton and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) during the Benghazi hearings. Jordan succinctly summarizes the evidence establishing that, immediately after the attack began, both Clinton and the Obama administration knew that Benghazi was a terrorist attack. Jordan also shows Clinton undeniable documentation that exposes the lie she and others fabricated that the attack was the result of a protest about an obscure video.

I could say a  lot more about Benghazi but it's better left for another day. The most shameful part of Hillary's lie is when she told it to the families of the heroes whose lives were lost that day. They deserved better.

There are many more examples of Hillary's deceitful ways. Cursory research of Hillary's past will reveal them. But I think the point has been made. Hillary Clinton will say whatever she believes she needs to say, whenever she thinks she needs to say it, and to whoever she needs to say it. Ad when necessary (or expedient), she will look you in the eye and deny that she ever took a different position.

Like I said at the beginning, there are politicians and there are politicians. We're about to elect a new President. I don't believe pathological liars need apply.
